So a couple weeks ago I was working up at Deer Valley (PS - I've been teaching ski school one day/week up at Deer Valley in Park City, UT this winter) and we were nearing the end of they day so my group of 5-6 kids was doing pretty well. We decided to take them up on the big chairlift for a real run down the mountain. I was skiing behind them when all of a sudden this young woman, probably close to my age, falls down right behind me. I think my slow class caught her off guard or something. Well, I stop and turn around to ask if she was ok and all that. Then her mom pulls up and with a devious little smile on her face looks at me and says, "She fell for you the moment she saw you!"
Mom and I proceeded to laugh REALLY hard for quite a while. Haha! It was super funny. Meanwhile the poor girl was absolutely mortified - which made it all the more funny to the two of us.
For a split second I considered hinting that I was available but I thought I might get in trouble. You know - employee/guest relations and all that crap. Anyway, my class was getting on down the hill so I had to take off before I could think of an appropriate and witty response. Seriously though, I was chuckling to myself the rest of they way down the mountain.
Very witty mom! That's cute.
ReplyDeleteWhy is it that the most embarrassing moments are always the best for others!!!!
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of wishing for a quick mind with ready witty responses, a group of premeds was interviewing on campus while I was studying on the second floor of the halls. One of them, trying to make a good impression on everyone, pointed to the stairs of our two story building and asked me if the stairs go downstairs. I couldn't think of anything to say so I just mumbled yes. I told Shelli about it and without missing a breath she said, "You should have said, Nope, that's our slinky racetrack."
